Pets of Shannon Cunningham and Charles Cazabon

These are some of the animals which Shannon and I care for. This section of the website was revamped on 20 December 2002; various pictures and sections have been added at other times.

I changed the way I generate the pages on 10 August 2002, and added thumbnail pages where all the pictures in a section are viewable on a single page in smaller size -- you don't see the text, but clicking on one of the images takes you to the page containing the full-size version of that image.

There are pictures of:

Flapjack

Flapjack is a rabbit; we were originally told he was a Netherlands Dwarf rabbit, but we've since found out his ears are too long for him to be purebred. Also, he has since grown too large, so he must be a cross.

Horace, Humphrey, Pansy, Daphne, and Penelope

Horace, Humphrey, Pansy, Daphne, and Penelope are rabbits who we fostered for three months in the spring of 2005 for the Saskatoon SPCA. If you adopted any of these bunnies and happen across this page, please email me and let me know how they're doing!

Three rabbits

There are some pictures of the five rabbits in foster care. A thumbnail preview page is available.

They were brought home on 29 January, 2005.

This gallery was added on 31 January 2005.

Four new photos of Horace and Humphrey were added on 1 February 2005.

A number of new photos were added on 13 March 2005.

Humphrey and Horace were graciously neutered by the Arlington Animal Hospital in March, 2005. They're happier together as a result.

Penelope was adopted in April, 2005!

Pansy was graciously spayed by the Western College of Veterinary Medicine's Small Animal Clinic in April, 2005 as part of their teaching program.

Daphne was graciously spayed by the Western College of Veterinary Medicine's Small Animal Clinic in May, 2005 as part of their teaching program.

We brought the rabbits back to the shelter on 20 May 2005 so they could be seen by more potential adopters.

Horace was adopted on 27 May 2005!

Humphrey was adopted on 4 June 2005, while we were at the shelter!

Daphne did not adapt well to life at the shelter.

Pansy was finally adopted (by a woman named Star, apparently) on 21 August 2005. Hooray for Pansy! I'll miss her …

New photos of Humphrey (at the shelter meeting friends, and in his new forever home) were added on 23 February 2006. I'd love to hear from the people who adopted Pansy, Penelope, and Horace, if they're out there and manage to find this page.

Bob and Max

Bob and Max are blotched tiger salamanders (Ambystoma tigrinum melanostictum) which Shannon rescued in January of 2001. They were wintering in a building with a dirt floor which was about to be concreted over -- they couldn't be released into the wild, as ambient temperatures at that time of year range from about -45°C to -10°C.

Shannon has always kept Bob herself; for a while, Max went to live with another family here in Saskatoon before returning to us. Bob and Max live together in a 40 gallon vivarium I built.

Their genders are unknown; we refer to them as males, but this is just a convenient assumption based on their names.

Bob

There are a few pictures of Bob. A thumbnail preview page is available.

He was a juvenile when first rescued and still had his gills. He has since finished his metamorphosis.

Max

Dudley is Wally's father. He was a stud hamster at our favoured pet store until he stopped successfully breeding (too old, I guess). We offered to take him in, and have had him for a few months now.

We don't know how old he was, exactly. He was probably born in early 2001.

Dudley passed away on 17 August 2002.

Moka, Latte, and their Pups

Moka, Latte, and their children are Cambell's Dwarf Russian hamsters (Phodopus campbelli). Shannon purchased them from a pet store in Moose Jaw; ten days later, Moka had a surprise litter of three pups. Three days after that, Latte had a surprise litter of five pups.

This is their story …
