Pictures of Elizabeth and Jane

These are Elizabeth and Jane, who are female fancy rats. They were born 28 December 2002.

Their names come from Shannon's favourite book, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (I liked it too). Elizabeth is more bold, while Jane is more reserved (shy, actually) and ladylike.

Jane passed away after a short illness on 26 July 2004. Elizabeth passed away of old age on 15 November 2004.

Lizzie looks for a way out

Greedy Jane

Jane, in many ways, is even more adventurous than Lizzie, although she's more easily startled. Here she stuffs her head into Shannon's closed hand in search of Rice Crispies. They're amazingly strong and muscular compared to the fluffballs which are the hamsters.

Are cameras food?

Quarter-inch view of a rat nose, just for the curious.
